My Kizoa Bulldog Presentation:
My Kizoa presentation is based on one of the things I love best..my bulldog family. Our assignment was to take and create a movie of the iconic mascot of South Carolina State University, the bulldog. Kizoa is a funky, cool website that can be used to create movies, collages, and motion pictures with your choice of font, animation, music, and many more. I knew nothing about Kizoa prior to this assignment, but I was impressed with the features of the site. And the best part about it all, it's free. Enjoy Kizoa, and check it out sometimes.
This fall semester in Electronic Media II, we as a class have learned the ins and outs of various social media sites. We've learned the basics, created accounts, learned techniques, and many other factors of the media world. From Twitter, to Linkedin, and even down to Pinterest, Mr. Harwood has made it interesting and fun to learn.
We started off with our first social site Twitter. Twitter to me was my favorite site to discuss because I am very active on my twitter. I have 159 followers and I follow 108 people. My top ten followers are: @nickiminaj, @aaliyahjay, @makebagarrett, @brysontiller, @therealbamkitty, @kenwalker, @kennedyx, @dollfacebeauty, and @shayaunaalexis. Twitter is my go to zone, when I want to laugh or vent how I am feeling with no judgement.
Linkedin was a site I knew much of nothing of until i entered this class. Linkedin is a professional website for people who want to connect with someone or network on a business aspect. Mr. Harwood explained to us how important it was for young college professionals to connect on Linkedin with people. I am connected with eleven people who have graduated from South Carolina State, and a few were broadcasting majors.
Pinterest was another one of my top favorite media sites that we reviewed in class. Pinterest allows you to create and put together different styles of "boards" on whatever you like. You can also pin other followers boards to your wall or board as well. I have over ten boards and each board is composed of different things. For example, my favorite two boards are "Fashion Alert" and "Sense of Style". Those are my favorite because i love fashion and putting clothes together to come up with the perfect outfit for any occasion. I have no dislikes about Pinterest, because the basics of the website allows you to do just what it is performed to do.
I've used Prezi in high school for one presentation and haven't used it since until being in this class. Prezi to me is a more advanced Microsoft Powerpoint. It allows users to create presentations and make it into a mini movie or slideshow on anything. In class using Prezi, Mr. Harwood wanted us to create a top ten list of any choice of our preference. I chose to create a top ten list of my favorite television shows. Prezi is unique because you can create a mini motion picture and be able to present it.
My green screen project was definitely an interesting project that I found quite difficult to be honest. It was different for me as well as other because we had to find a picture, any picture, and mimic a similar pose or basically blend in with the phone as well. It was very fun and unique to watch my classmates come up with different ideas and views for this project!
And last but not least Kizoa was an all around media site I had never heard of ever! Our class was told to create a Kizoa including pictures of the various bulldogs around campus. There wasn’t many bulldogs to work with so at this point I had to improvise. Kizoa is a website used to create a picture slideshow of anything you want. You can include different fonts, themes, add music, voice to hers, and make it really unique and fun! I wouldn’t change too much about Kizoa, but possibly updating to make it more futuristic. I had fun creating my slideshow with the “bulldog” theme, and I would definitely use it again!
Overall, this has been a very fun experience in Media Production. Mr. Harwood made it very up to date and easy to understand. He kept up with the timeline of what his students use today for social media platforms as well as introduced us to various other sites that can help us in the future. I plan to use sites like LinkedIn and Prezi in the near future from what I have learned in this class. Thank you Mr. Harwood for teaching us the various basic and techniques of these social sites!
Prezi is an web-based presentation software, created in Hungary in 2009 by Adam S. Fischer, Peter Halacsy, and Peter Arvai. Prezi is a presentation style format meant to follow dialogue. In more simple terms it is a more upgraded version of Microsoft Powerpoint. Many users in the business profession as well as school may find Prezi more interesting and fun. It's simplicity and easy to display presentations is also accommodating. A database shows as of March 2017, more than 73 million users were using Prezi.
Many users may find the presentation website more easier or better to use versus PowerPoint. As for me, I actually found Prezi to be more difficult. Difficult as in the set up and format of it. The website moves and flows more advanced than other websites. And if you don't pay attention, the presentation may not come out as planned.
In the midst of my difficulties of Prezi, I created a presentation based on my top ten favorite television shows. I started in chronological order, starting with my number one favorite show, ending it with my tenth least favorite.
Overall, Prezi as whole is a really cool and more advanced way to create your presentations!
Pinterest is a web and mobile organization startup that operates a software system designed to discover information on the World Wide Web, mainly utilizing images and on a shorter scale, GIF's and videos. Pinterest launched March 2010, founded by Paul Sciarra, Evan Sharp, and Ben Silbermann who is currently the CEO today.
Pinterest is used for numerous things including projects, designs, DIY, fashion, cooking, party ideas, anything and more you could think of. Pinterest is summarized as the "catalog of ideas" for various things and people. I personally have used Pinterest for ideas on decorating my room, fashion ideas for events, and make up. Pinterest mobile is most likely used by users because it is easier access and more convenient. The idea of pinterest and its users is to create what is called "boards". Boards are used to divide the page into different categories that the user likes. You are allowed to have as many boards you want. And when you want to add something to a board, it is called "pin". Pinterest is used by over a million people across the world, and it is enjoyed!
I had the pleasure of interviewing the infamous Haitian Doll, aka Naheka Sumpter. Naheka was born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. She is a senior at South Carolina State, where she majors in Broadcast Communications. Naheka chose her major because of her great communication skills, interest in videography, and wants to attend film school.
Naheka has plans of attending graduate school after South Carolina State for marketing, she has not spoke on any particular schools yet. She also wants to further her career as far as owning her own production company where people can do video shoots, and she can be the creative director. Her home place to reside is Charlotte, NC where she plans to take on some of these ideas.
One of my favorite things that I enjoy about Ms. Sumpter as she states is her passion for make-up and fashion. "I can turn it on and turn it off" Naheka states as she describes to me her favorite things to do and it shows. If you ever catch her on a good day, just glance at her face, I bet you it is BEAT! She also enjoys spending time with friends and family. She is a lovable and free-spirited person with some of the realist conversations.
Naheka chose SC State because of the atmosphere and her mom's husband. She said the campus was very warm and inviting.
One of her favorite quotes and mine as well is "My mama told me" if you get this quote, then you definitely understand!
Where the hashtags began, Twitter was founded on March of 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams but launched on July 15, 2006. It was the trendy new form of social media where the line "follow me" came about. Twitter is a site where you can publicly or protectively "tweet" or text your thoughts or feelings. If you follow others and like what they are tweeting or posting you can "retweet" or "like" their post to your page as well. It gives you up to 140 characters or words to post per tweet. As of 2016, Twitter has over 319 million monthly users. I love using twitter because I can tweet and talk about anything I want and to myself without being judged. I can also post as many tweets back to back. My favorite two followers currently is the YouTube guru Aaliyah Jay (@aaliyahjay), and the fabulous Nicki Minaj (@nickiminaj). But in other news, follow me @Shaliyahnorth!
Founded on December 28, 2002, Reid Hoffman, as well as several others created linkedin. A way of communicating on a more professional/business side. I personally knew nothing about linkedin before enrolling into some of my broadcasting core classes. My professor, Mr.Harwood has introduced linkedin to me in detail and has helped me in various ways with connecting with others. I have connected with other classmates, professors, and a couple of alumni from South Carolina State who were broadcasting majors, and have went out and found great jobs in this profession. Linkedin is very simple and easy to use as far as finding people and easily connecting with them. There is no pressure to create or customize your profile or write a long description about your life, it is fast and easty access to the people you may need.
